Switzerland represents United States interests in Iran.

"Washington's latest expression of readiness for talks with Tehran without any preconditions is wordplay which is not to be taken as a yardstick for action", Abbas Mousavi, the ministry spokesman, was quoted as saying.

"We're very concerned that Western companies, American companies and others that enter the Chinese markets aren't treated the same way that Chinese companies are treated when they enter those Western markets", Pompeo said.

But on Saturday, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani suggested that he may be willing to hold talks if Washington showed it respect, but said they would not be pressured into discussions. Iran has continued to broadly comply with the terms, which called for it to curb its nuclear work in exchange for sanctions relief.

The US was closely watching Iran to assess whether it was complying with the requirements set out in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) aimed at limiting Iran's potential to develop nuclear weapons, which the Trump administration quit previous year.

Navy acknowledges request regarding USS John S. McCain made for Trump visit
The ship is named after the long-time senator from Arizona, and originally his father and grandfather, who all served in the Navy. Later, the president seemed to question reporting about the story, tweeting: "The Navy put out a disclaimer on the McCain story".

"There is a specialist committee working now to decide on what criteria to add to the 5G option and somewhere this summer those criteria will be published", said the Dutch foreign minister.

Under President Trump, the USA has launched a maximum-pressure campaign against Iran, reimposing sanctions suspended under the controversial Iran nuclear deal in 2015 and intensifying other restrictions. "They threatened us as if they were a military superpower, but now they say they do not seek a war", he said.

"The enemies sometimes say they have conditions for negotiations with Iran. but in recent weeks they said they have no conditions". Those tensions have created fears of a potential conflict, especially in the Middle East and Europe. "It does not work in dealing with Iran", Javad Zarif told ABC's "This Week".

The State Department then issued 12 demands to Iran concerning its foreign policy and its missile and nuclear programs before lifting sanctions.

"Authoritarian states can steal ideas and prop up their own business enterprises, but they'll never match the entrepreneurship and innovation found in free societies", said Pompeo, stressing the importance of intellectual property rights protection, the rule of law, as well as a predictable and consistent legal system.
