Zuck Wants to Turn Facebook Into a 'Privacy-Focused' Platform

Zuckerberg writes that ephemeral stories are by far one of the fastest growing areas of online communication. "We do not believe storing people's data in some countries is a secure enough foundation to build such important internet infrastructure on".

Momentarily putting aside what we know about Mark Zuckerberg, his hopes, and the first batch of futures he's helped bring about, this still seems like an odd stance from the creator of Facebook.

Besides, Yelp and Duolingo, Privacy International (PI) has also discovered, two Muslim prayer apps, Bible app, and as well as a job finding the app named Indeed, these all apps are performing similar activities, they are sending users data to Facebook, which will definatly help Facebook to identify users for advertisements goal whenever, they browse the social media platform. Although Facebook has a long history of lying about its privacy-abusing activities, I agree with Thompson that Zuckerberg is probably serious about improving the privacy of Facebook's messaging products. Users would also have more options for how long chats are saved, he added. An interesting point here is that Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook's security systems can read the content of users messages sent over Messenger. Zuckerberg, who runs Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, on Wednesday expressed his intentions to change the essential nature of social media. Additionally, the group reached out to each app. Privacy International said Duolingo promised it would remove the Facebook Software Developer Kit "app events" feature from its Android and iOS app in the next update.

In a blog, he said that Facebook will shift from a social network in which people broadcast information to large groups of people to one in which people communicate with smaller groups and their content disappears after a short period. The idea of a privacy-focused messaging platform is great in principle, but when it is proposed by a company that makes its billions through advertising and utilizing private data, healthy scepticism is to be expected.

On another front, Facebook will allow users to opt in to send or receive messages across any of its services - Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram - and then to extend that to wireless SMS messaging as well.

At least seven missing in Alabama after deadly weekend tornadoes
Hardest hit was the rural area of Beauregard, Alabama , near the Georgia border, with a population of some 10,000 people. Forecasters ranked the worst of the outbreak at step four of the six-step Enhanced Fujita scale of tornado strength.

Zuckerberg also hinted private, encrypted messaging could create room for new tools, like around payments and commerce.

After all this action takes place, Facebook has taken responsibility on app developers not to destroy the rules and policies of the platform and also not to misuse its developer tools by gathering users personal information. Facebook's utter failure at addressing these grave issues has made it slightly unpopular in the past one year. The company has earned itself little respect by constantly riding roughshod over user privacy, and it's not clear if its reputation can be salvaged from the numerous scandals that have emerged over the years. In fact, Facebook and Instagram might become even more important.

So that what people share doesn't "come back to hurt them later", Zuckerberg said the team will move towards reducing permeance messages, similar to how Stories expire after 24 hours. Facebook's business model is to mine users' data for advertisers...

Tencent Holdings Ltd's WeChat app has shown how a messaging service can generate revenue through not only displaying ads, but also being a marketplace for games, merchandise and services such as taxi rides.
