UK Police To Patrol Mosques Following The New Zealand Terror Attack

Afghanistan's ambassador to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, Wahidullah Waissi, said on Twitter that one Afghan national had been killed and three wounded.

"Japan firmly condemns the atrocious shooting carried out in Christchurch", said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in a statement, expressing Japan's "sincere solidarity with the people of New Zealand".

Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Neil Basu said: "Today we will be stepping up reassurance patrols around mosques and increasing engagement with communities of all faith, giving advice on how people and places can protect themselves". Two explosive devices attached to suspects' vehicles have been found and they have been disarmed.

Reports suggest that many of those affected are part of New Zealand's migrant and refugee communities.

"It is clear that this can now only be described as a terrorist attack", Ardern said, call this "one of New Zealand's darkest days". Police believe one of the arrested may have had nothing to do with the incident and are working to understand what the involvement of the other two people may be.
