First picture of Jayme Closs after 88-day kidnap ordeal

The Latest Lawyers Treat Client Fairly in Jayme Closs Case

Authorities said Jayme was skinny, disheveled and wearing shoes too big for her when she approached a stranger and pleaded for help Thursday in the small north woods town of Gordon, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) from her hometown of Barron.

The young girl was rescued Thursday walking down a road in a rural area in northwestern Wisconsin after she fled a home where law enforcement says she was kept by Jake Thomas Patterson, 21. He was jailed on suspicion of kidnapping and homicide. Even during the 88 days of captivity of Jayme - we still don't think that anybody assisted him in that.

Patterson was unemployed at the time of his arrest but worked one day in 2016 at the same Jennie-O turkey plant in Barron as Closs's parents.

"He didn't know Jayme, he didn't know (her parents) Denise or Jim", Naiberg said.

"The fact that Jayme did what she did and got out is unbelievably awesome", said the woman at the cafe.

Residents who knew Patterson described him as quiet.

The terrified teenager was found by dog walker and social worker Jeanne Nutter, who said the girl begged for help and revealed her name.

Roseanna Marie Forcum last was seen in St. Paul in 1998 when she was 15.

Investigators are trying to determine how Jayme escaped from Patterson's home, Fitzgerald said. It's wild country; roadside signs admonish motorists to share the pavement with ATVs.

Attorneys for Patterson called the affair "a very tragic situation" and said they were relying on the court system to treat him fairly. "[Patterson] had no connection with the Closs family".

The suspect's parents divorced in 2007, the media outlet reported, citing court records. She said his parents moved away but the suspect and his brothers continued to use the home.

Chris Van Hollen, D-Md. "I urge our Democratic colleagues in the Senate not to shut down the work of the Senate too". The motion failed on a vote of 57-43. "So, this is no newfound principled objection", the majority leader said .

"It was like I was seeing a ghost", Mr Kasinskas told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. They did not find Jayme or a suspect or gun, they said at the time. The discovery ended an all-out search that gripped the state, with many people fearing the worst.

Jayme Closs's aunt, Jennifer Naiberg Smith, posted an update on Jayme's condition Saturday morning, shared via the Healing For Jayme Closs Facebook page. He said Jayme told Federal Bureau of Investigation agents she didn't know him at all.

Jayme was taken to a hospital in Minnesota after she was found, her aunt, Sue Allard, said.

Her uncle, Jeff Closs, told KARE News the family had "thought it was going to be a different ending".

"I was elected to keep people safe and not having that unknown out there", Fitzgerald said on Fox & Friends. "She did not talk about why or how". Police are still investigating and say 'she is doing as well as circumstances allow'.

Jayme Closs had been missing for almost three months when she approached a stranger in a small Wisconsin town and pleaded for help.

According to Douglas County Sheriff Tom Dalbec, Gordon police pinpointed and arrested Mr Patterson 11 minutes later thanks to a description of his vehicle that Jayme provided.

"One of the things that helped me recover so quickly is that nobody forced me to talk about what happened", said Beers, 36, who is married and has two children. "I also have to concentrate on my own sister, and it hurts that we don't have closure".

Fitzgerald said he was not yet aware of any plans for a community gathering to welcome Jayme home.

Authorities said they believed Closs was Patterson's "only target" and was taken against her will.
