Trump lashes out at reporter in fiery exchange

Trump lashes out at reporter in fiery exchange

"I don't think he's a smart person but he has a loud voice", Trump told reporters in a testy 20-plus-minute exchange before he left for Paris and a World War I commemoration ceremony.

The president and the reporter sparred at a press briefing Wednesday, culminating with a White House intern trying to pull the microphone away from Mr Acosta.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a clearly-doctored video to falsely accuse CNN reporter Jim Acosta of "inappropriate behavior" and "placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern".

The president also ridiculed CNN White House correspondent Abby Phillip who asked Trump if he wants acting attorney general Matt Whitaker to "rein in" special counsel Robert Mueller.

When Acosta challenged the president on his use of the word "invasion" to describe a caravan of mainly Honduran migrants and asylum seekers heading to the USA border, Trump launched an attack on the CNN journalist, as an aide tried to physically remove the microphone from Acosta's hands.

"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them", Trump said. Reporters must treat the White House and the presidency with respect, according to Trump.

Ryan said in a tweet that she has "the most respect for the Office of the President" but will "continue to ask the questions that affect America, all of America".

She said his press pass was being suspended "until further notice".

A 20-year veteran of the White House beat, Ryan pointed out that each president before Trump "understood that reporters were part of the underpinnings of this nation".

Acosta, on Twitter, denied Sanders' comment and said he and CNN "won't back down" after the ban. Trump on Wednesday accused Alcindor of asking a racist question when she inquired about the president receiving support from some white nationalists.

Boeing to issue safety advice on 737 MAX after Indonesia crash
According to NBC News , the warning revolves around what pilots should do if the plane gives an erroneous reading from a sensor. Boeing issued a safety warning today about its new 737 Max jets which could have a fault that causes them to nose-dive.

He continued, "When you're in the White House, this is a very sacred place to me". "In fact, she asked the most pertinent question of the day", CNN said. The way you treat other people is disgusting.

Trump didn't say what he means by "respect" - but by the end of the press availability, it was pretty clear that it was for reasons other than security.

Donald Trump lies. He knows it. Sarah Huckabee Sanders repeats his lies.

"What a stupid question you asked", Trump replied.

Mr Acosta's press pass was later cancelled amid accusations that he "placed his hands" on the intern.

While Trump being nasty to reporters isn't new, there's something especially notable about Friday's insults: They were both targeted at African-American women journalists.

Conway said Acosta should not have swiped at the White House aide before "grabbing the microphone back".

Trump didn't like the question, but reporters from competing networks defended Phillip's inquiry.

And CNN has slammed the White House for its actions.
