N. Korea decides to deport U.S. citizen detained for illegal entry

North Korea to expel US citizen who 'illegally entered' country

North Korea's surprise announcement Friday that dictator Kim Jong Un has supervised the test of an unspecified "high-tech tactical weapon" means that a potential military confrontation between the US and the North over nuclear weapons and missiles is once again a real and frightening possibility.

Citizens of all countries, excluding the USA and South Korea, are now permitted to study in North Korea.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday expressed appreciation for the co-operation of North Korea and the embassy of Sweden - which handles consular issues for USA citizens in North Korea - "in facilitating the release of an American citizen".

A man with the same name was arrested in South Korea while trying to sneak over the inter-Korean border in November a year ago. President Donald Trump was threatening Kim with "fire and fury" if the North Korean leader continued his belligerent foreign policy while the world looked on nervously. In response, the US administration announced sanctions in August on Chinese companies involved.

Moon and Xi agreed that a second summit between Washington and Pyongyang and a planned visit by North Korean leader Kim to Seoul would be an "important breakthrough" in resolving the situation on the peninsula, according to South Korea's presidential office. This list would include Chinese financial institutions, businesses and officials involved in trading with North Korea that could be subject to future sanctions.

Otto Warmbier was returned to the USA in a comatose state and later died, worsening tensions between the two countries.

The latest detained American is likely a man that South Korea deported past year, according to South Korean police. The SNU committee said that around 100 students have expressed desire to take part in exchanges with the North. Eugene Lee, spokeswoman of South Korea's Unification Ministry, declined to comment on Kim's inspection of the weapons test.

Donald Trump leaves Finnish leader puzzled with claim forests are raked
Puzzled Finns have taken to Twitter to post pictures of themselves raking the forest after U.S. Finnish President Sauli Niinisto later disputed this. "And they don't have any problem".

North Korea was partially successful in this objective in the sense that China, Russia, and other countries are trading with North Korea in violation of the sanctions, thus mitigating their effectiveness.

Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula has been in the worldwide spotlight throughout the year, and it was a major theme of the Trump-Kim summit this past June. That mysterious formulation seems to imply---absurdly-that North Korea had somehow welshed on an obligation to fully inform the United States of its missile assets in advance of a negotiated agreement on the sequence and timing of the steps both sides would need to take to conclude an denuclearization agreement. He stressed that United Nations sanctions had to remain enforced.

He later hailed the test as a "decisive turn in bolstering the fighting capacity" of the North's military.

Mr Kim said the weapons system tested was one that especially interested his father, Kim Jong-il, who led its development personally before he died in 2011.

Kim Jong Un's weapons - back in the spotlight Friday (November 16).

Last year's string of increasingly powerful weapons tests, many experts believe, put the North on the brink of a viable arsenal of nuclear-tipped missiles that can target anywhere in the mainland United States.
