Dozens of migrants caught storming border in San Ysidro won't face charges

US President Donald Trump

The United States shut the crossing for several hours on Sunday and Trump has threatened to close the border entirely. It's a split-second choice more often made in the remote desert, far from cameras, where agents are likely working alone and encountering groups of people crossing illegally.

On Nov. 26, President Donald Trump incorrectly said that three border patrol agents "were very badly hurt through getting hit with rocks and stones" when a group of migrants tried to breach the USA border at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in San Diego.

Still, experts say policies have improved following a major audit five years ago.

Mexico's Interior Ministry said in a statement it would immediately deport the people arrested on its side of the border and would reinforce security.

That photo has been used online for years.

Who are the migrants heading towards the US? The group breached a couple sections of that, actually tore down one small section, started to rush across and that's another time they started assaulting our agents. These included 29 cases in which tear gas was used and 43 incidents of pepper spray. Less-lethal force has increased over the past two years but is still lower than 2013.

While Mexico is still the country of origin for about half the unauthorized immigrants in the United States, their number in that total population fell by 1.5 million between 2007 and 2016, the Pew report found. Thousands of Mexicans who made it the US returned to their native country this century, motivated by factors like family reunification and improved job prospects in some sectors of the Mexican economy. Hastings called it "everyday business" for the law enforcement agency. "That's what's going to happen in those situations".

3,000 people are already on the list for asylum before this caravan can even be addressed and immigration officials can only get through 100 people a day. The octagonal giant screens mounted on a platform mimic a desert encounter where agents must decide whether to fire their weapons. Ebrard asked. "Prepare ourselves to assume that a good part of them are going to be in this area of Mexico for the coming months".

CARAVAN CHAOS: Over 50 Migrants ARRESTED After STORMING US-Mexico Border
More than 5,000 migrants have been camped in and around a sports complex in Tijuana after making their way through Mexico in recent weeks via caravan.

"We're very busy", Hastings said. "We're trying to keep our agents safe". But as the president has repeatedly said, they have to do it the legal way.

CNBC: "Trump urges Congress to "fund the wall" as migrant children face tear gas at the border" - "As images of migrant children fleeing tear gas near the U.S. -Mexico border made rounds Monday, President Donald Trump aimed to use the chaos to attempt to score a political victory".

Agents are authorized to use deadly force when there is reasonable belief that there is an imminent danger of serious physical injury or death to the officer or another person. However, what I saw at on the border (Sunday) was not people walking up to Border Patrol agents and asking to claim asylum.

"The alarm went off and they began throwing tear gas at us".

He predicted the Supreme Court would take up the legality of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, an Obama-era initiative that protected thousands of young undocumented immigrants brought to the USA as children from deportation.

"Stick to the $1.6 billion", he said.

The administration justified the separation on the grounds the adult had committed an illegal act - albeit a misdemeanour under current US law - but there were soon reports of questionable conditions at detention centres, a lack of rigour in tracking who had been separated, and deportations that had occurred without due process. People look at the border, they look at the rush to the police, they look at the rock throwers and really hurting three people, three very fearless border patrol folks - I think that it's a tremendous issue, but much more importantly, is really needed.

Currently, the sports facility in Tijuana that can house 3500 is overrun by as many as 5,800 migrants according to some reports, which is expected to be home for them for awhile.
