Black Caps celebrate win over Pakistan with Bhangra music

New Zealand pulled off a thrilling four-run win over Pakistan in first Test in Abu Dhabi on Monday

Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali saved Pakistan after the drama at the start of today's play, when Pakistan lost three quick wickets in the space of just eight runs and as many balls.

Asad Shafiq (45) and Azhar Ali (40) settled the innings for Pakistan with a partnership of 82-runs, before Shafiq was dismissed by Neil Wagner just before lunch. "Lot of credit goes to the environment around us because we keep it very relaxed".

The Blackcaps were bowled out for 249 in their second innings with BJ Watling being the top scorer with 59 runs from 145 balls with five boundaries to his name.

Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed was despondent in the post-match presentation with the loss and rightly so as it was Pakistan's narrowest loss in terms of runs in Tests.

Patel was born in Mumbai and shifted to New Zealand as a child, resulting in his ability to interact in Hindi.

Azhar shielded No. 11 batsman Mohammad Abbas for 7.4 overs to get the last precious 12 runs before he was outdone by Patel's guile with Pakistan narrowly falling short.

No doubt after a fightback like the one we witnessed by Nicholls and Watling who both scored half-centuries, the New Zealanders have managed to play themselves back in the game.

For Pakistan, Yasir Shah was the pick of the bowlers as he got three wickets.

It was Pakistan's fourth worst collapse in their Test history.

Williamson's early use of the spinners worked well for New Zealand, with Patel having overnight batsman Imam-ul-Haq (27) lbw off a delivery which turned sharply into the left-hander and caught the batsman on the backfoot.

His fellow opener Mohammad Hafeez then miscued a drive off leg-spinner Ish Sodhi´s next over and was caught in the covers for 10.

"The wicket was challenging and both teams had to fight hard, and certainly Pakistan had the upper-hand, but some of the characteristics we held very dear is the attitude to fight on".

Williamson - who missed final One-Day International (ODI) in Dubai on Sunday with a groin injury - won the toss and opted to bat in the first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
