Acting AG Whitaker has thoughts on Mueller’s Russia probe

Mr Trump lost trust in his top law enforcement officer after Mr Sessions announced that he would step aside from the Russian Federation investigation past year, and allow his deputy Rod Rosenstein to lead the politically-charged probe.

Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chair Mark Warner said Thursday on "Your World" that with President Trump's appointment of former Iowa federal prosecutor Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general, the probability of the Mueller probe being tampered with will increase.

Sessions's interim replacement, his former chief of staff, Whitaker, has publicly criticised the Mueller probe for going beyond its remit. "Graham, I do believe we have the right to get a solid answer from him", she said.

"I think Mr. Whitaker was a good pick", Graham said.

Whitaker, speaking on CNN in 2017, said he had respect for Mueller and then went on to say he would be surprised if the special counsel had any concerns about the termination of Sessions and its effect on the investigation.

The Nobody Is Above the Law network demands that Whitaker immediately commit not to assume supervision of the investigation.

"We just need a reprieve from Trump", Jenkins said.

Sessions had recused himself from the investigation, because of his own contacts with Russians during the 2016 campaign, instead handing responsibility for Mueller to his deputy Rod Rosenstein. He said it would spark a "constitutional crisis" if Trump forced out Sessions as a "prelude" to ending or limiting Mueller's investigation.

US Defence Secretary James Mattis has recently pledged to step up training of Afghan troops to prevent further similar attacks. RS also said the incident was under investigation. "I love Mayor Taylor, his fantastic wife Jennie and his 7 sweet kids".

"Whitaker must recuse and Congress must act to protect the Mueller investigation", said an organizer of the march outside the White House.

The demonstrations started at 5 p.m. local time in places including New York City's Times Square and in front of the White House.

For a short while after the 2016 election, Christie ran the Trump team's transition process, but was removed from the task on November 11 of that year - a decision that some say caused the Trump administration to be less than prepared to actually take power on January 20, 2017.

"Among other things, this wave election in ME was a massive repudiation of the authoritarianism of Donald Trump", said Dini Merz, one of the leaders of Mainers for Accountable Leadership.

Never in modern history has a president attacked a Cabinet member as frequently and harshly in public as Trump did Sessions, 71, who had been one of the first members of Congress to back his presidential campaign in 2015. Justice Department officials said his taking over for his boss was, at the very least, "awkward", because chiefs of staff typically leave with the attorney general.

Even after he arrived at the Justice Department, Whitaker expressed frustration about the length of Mueller's probe and doubts about the scope of his authority.

United States media sources have claimed special counsel Mueller is on the verge of claiming his biggest scalp yet as he readies an indictment against Donald Trump Junior. Session's resignation letter doesn't have a date on it, so Trump probably could have dumped this news on us at any time.

He also backed Trump's ban on the entry into America of people from several Muslim-majority countries.
