President Donald Trump has vowed to "get to the bottom" of the case of missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Saudi Arabia may have agreed to the search in order to reassure its Western allies and the worldwide community.

Saudi Arabia, which dismisses as baseless accusations that it killed or abducted Khashoggi, faces growing criticism from Western allies including London and Washington over the affair.

Earlier, Turkish daily Sabah listed the names and images of 15 suspected Saudi operatives who landed in Istanbul on the day Khashoggi vanished last week after entering the Saudi consulate.

The world's third-largest oil importer, India relies upon Iran for 9.4% of its crude supplies: in 2017-18 the country brought in 220.4 million metric tonnes of oil from a number of sources. And he alluded to the sensitivities surrounding the matter, saying he'd prefer not to reveal which Saudi officials he spoke to about it.

Whether this refers to the new General Directorate for Investigation as part of new Saudi state security departments created past year is unclear.

The disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi on Wednesday prompted senators to initiate an investigation and possible sanctions against Saudi Arabia.

If either government seems to be in control of the investigation, Kaye said "it is not going to be seen as credible by significant portions of the global community".

Pressure appeared to be building worldwide on close USA ally Saudi Arabia on the whereabouts of Khashoggi, a prominent critic of Saudi policies, who was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to get documents for his planned marriage. "They don't know over there", he said, although it's unclear if he meant the Saudis did not know or if Turkish authorities who are investigating still do not know.

Turkish officials believe the Saudi writer and government critic was killed inside his country's consulate in Istanbul after he visited the mission to obtain a document required to marry his Turkish fiancee.

The men are said to have then left for the private jet enclosure Istanbul's Ataturk airport. The Saudis, for their part, have not turned over any CCTV footage of his exit. Both aircraft later returned to Riyadh with one stopping in Dubai and the other in Egypt, it was claimed. The other to Cairo, also finally to the Saudi capital.

"Images in the media point to the possibility of an abduction or an assassination".

Jamal Khashoggi was once considered an insider to the Saudi establishment with links to the security and intelligence apparatus.

Surveillance footage released by the Turkish government shows Khashoggi entering the consulate, but they say there is no evidence he left afterward, leading Turkish officials to say they believe he was killed.

He told conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt that Khashoggi's disappearance is "a great concern for the United States of America".

"The free world deserves answers", Mr. Pence said.

He said he and his wife, Melania, expect to invite Ms Cengiz to the White House soon. She acknowledged the writer first visited the consulate on September 28 "despite being somewhat concerned that he could be in danger".

"This much is true: He entered the consulate, and there's no proof that he came out", wrote Cengiz.

They reportedly took CCTV footage from the consulate with them back to Riyadh, while Turkish staff at the consulate were told to take holiday the day Khashoggi arrived.

"In most cases, their arrests have never been officially confirmed and no official has ever said where they are being held or what they are charged with", said the watchdog.
