NBC Cancels Megyn Kelly's Morning Show

The "Today" show's 9 a.m. hour will be hosted by other co-anchors come Monday, a spokesperson told Page Six, ending Kelly's run of just over a year at the show.

The newswoman came under fire while discussing "inappropriate and offensive costumes" on her show.

Ms Kelly apologised to fellow NBC staffers later in the day and made a tearful apology on her show Thursday. Kelly last month publicly called for NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack to appoint outside investigators to look into why the network didn't air Ronan Farrow's stories about disgraced Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein and allowed him to take the material to the New Yorker.

Ms Kelly is in the second year of a three-year contract that reportedly pays her more than NZ$30 million a year.

Stelter chimed in on the rocky relationship Kelly has had with NBC over the previous year, saying there was a lot of resentment among staff and executives, prompting co-host Alisyn Camerota to say, "She was also paid a lot". "I'm Megyn Kelly and I want to begin with two words - I'm sorry".

NBC has officially canceled Megyn Kelly's show "Megyn Kelly Today" the Associated Press confirmed Friday.

The next day, Kelly apologized for what she'd said, saying, "Good morning everyone and welcome to the show".

The show aired repeats on Thursday and Friday. A source revealed to People that the network had been reassigning Megyn Kelly Today workers to other roles.

As for Kelly herself, a source told NBC News, "Conversations have already started about Megyn's exit from the network".

Kelly's newly-hired attorney Bryan Freedman reacted to Friday's NBC announcement with a statement of his own.

According to Us Weekly, NBC has wanted to end Megyn Kelly Today for some time.
