Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Catches Fire in Woman's Purse, Lawsuit Filed

Following this, the woman made a decision to stop using the phone and placed it back in her purse. It has taken great precautions in its battery testing, downgraded its batteries since previous year, and implemented a new cooling system in the Galaxy Note 9.

NY resident Diane Chung has filed lawsuit against Samsung after her Galaxy Note 9 caught fire, seeking a ban on the phone's sales, a report said.

Hurricane Florence kills at least three people
Officials said some 1.7 million people in the Carolinas and Virginia were warned to evacuate, but it was unclear how many did. The fear is that during that slow march west, it'll drop torrential rains, flooding low-lying areas and overwhelming rivers.

According to the report, the woman claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 had gotten extremely hot while she was using it.

She placed it in her purse, but soon noticed smoke coming from the pouch. She then tried to pick up her Samsung Galaxy Note 9, supposedly burning her fingers in the process as smoke continued to fill the inside of the elevator, making it hard for her to see. She placed her bag on the floor and tried to empty it, burning her fingers when she picked up the phone. Someone put out the fire by grabbing the smoldering phone with a cloth and dropping it into a bucket of water, the suit claims. Chung, whose bag and the contents inside were completely ruin, called it a "traumatic" experience in the lawsuit. Several cases of Note 7 smartphone catching fire were reportede from across the world, forcing the company to dump 2.5 million devices. To avoid future problems, the company created an eight-point inspection process for its batteries that, Samsung said, goes "well above and beyond the industry standard". This is notable, particularly considering that the new phone is the tenth edition of the Samsung Galaxy S series that debuted globally in 2010. "We have not received any reports of similar incidents involving a Galaxy Note9 device and we are investigating the matter". He said that the engineers at Samsung are confident of its safety, and that users do not have to worry about batteries any more. If Samsung's new Galaxy Note 9 suffers the same fate as Note 7, the company might have to consider discontinuing the entire line-up.
