Les Moonves Alleged To Have Sabotaged Janet Jackson's Career Over 'Wardrobe Malfunction'

According to a report published by HuffPost on Thursday, Moonves targeted Jackson because he felt she wasn't apologetic enough after her breast was exposed during the performance when singer Justin Timberlake ripped off a piece of fabric from her costume.

If an agreement is reached, Joe Ianniello, CBS chief operating officer, would take over as interim CEO until the company names a successor to Moonves, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The chairman was so embarrassed by the incident that he went on to ban both Jackson and Timberlake from the 2004 Grammys broadcasting that aired on CBS the week after the Super Bowl.

CBS chief executive Les Moonves was reportedly so enraged by Janet Jackson's Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction that he tried to destroy her career. "Moonves has been open about the fact that the incident caused him embarrassment, and he told sources who spoke to me that Jackson, in his mind, was not sufficiently repentant".

An unnamed source at CBS told the Huffington Post that Moonves said "How the fuck did she slip through?" when he learned about the deal.

Mystery surrounds death of Australian model on Greece superyacht
Since news of the model's death broke, the comment sections of her Instagram posts have been filled with messages of condolence. Local media reports Baillères had left the boat on Tuesday and Sinead was left onboard with the rest of the boat crew.

Both the singers said the tear was unintentional but Moonves reportedly would not let it go - who thought the Jackson and Timberlake deliberately wanted to stir up controversy.

Moonves ordered Viacom properties VH1 and MTV, and all Viacom-owned radio stations, to stop playing Jackson's songs and music videos. While Jackson's career was significantly damaged, Timberlake's flourished.

The report adds that Moonves used his connections in the industry to allegedly block any forward progress after forgiving Timberlake after his tearful apology but not getting the same in return from Jackson.

Things got even more out of hand when Moonves reportedly found out that Simon & Schuster were releasing Jackson's book True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself.

Moonves is reportedly in settlement talks to leave CBS, with the board offering around $100 million amid an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against him. Six women accused Moonves of sexual advances such as unwanted kissing and touching, the New Yorker reported in August.
