Kaepernick has new deal with Nike though he’s not in NFL

Kaepernick's silent protest quickly picked up steam, with President Donald Trump even putting in his two cents and demanding players who knelt be fired. It was a loss for the NFL, which has claimed there was no collusion to keep Kaepernick out of the league, although dozens of less-qualified quarterbacks have signed with teams since Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem to bring attention to social issues.

One thing is certain: Nike's new Kaepernick ad is likely going to provoke a lot of strong reactions from all over the political spectrum. An arbitrator ruled last week that Kaepernick's case will go to trial.

Colin Kaepernick probably will never play in the National Football League again, but he gave up his dream in order to try and bring attention an important issue in the United States of America. Even so, the protests have persisted through the preseason and the National Football League has said it is in discussions with the players union on the policy.

The new ad features the tagline "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything".

On Monday the star posted the advert and the slogan on his Twitter account.

According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, Kaepernick has been working with Nike for quite some time with the company waiting for the right moment to drop the campaign.

The president in June canceled the visit of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles to the White House after several players indicated they would not attend.

The advert comes just days after Kaepernick was cheered by spectators when he appeared alongside fellow player and activist Eric Reid at the US Open tennis tournament to watch Serena Williams on Friday.

Trump described players like Kaepernick who knelt for the anthem as "sons of bitches" who should be fired. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because Nike hasn't officially announced the contract.
