How will Tropical Storm Gordon impact North Texas? | Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Florence is heading towards America after which it could head up towards Greenland or across the Atlantic towards Europe

On the forecast track, the center of Gordon will move across the eastern Gulf of Mexico today, and approach the north-central Gulf Coast within the warning area late this afternoon or evening, and move inland over the lower Mississippi Valley tonight or early Wednesday.

Conditions will begin to deteriorate later this afternoon with the majority of the impacts this evening with landfall.

As of 8 a.m., the National Hurricane Center said Gordon's intensity reached 65 miles per hour, heading in a northwesterly direction towards the MS and Alabama coasts at a fast 17 miles per hour.

The path for Tropical Storm Gordon takes it into the Gulf Coast around Biloxi, Miss., late Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018.

"Now the one thing that I would say about this storm - which is kind of good - is it's moving quick enough that it's going to run out of time to strengthen before it makes its way offshore", Osterberg said.

Parts of the Louisiana and MS coasts were under a hurricane warning early Tuesday after fast-developing Tropical Storm Gordon moved across South Florida on its way to the northern Gulf of Mexico.

Governors in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana all declared states of emergency, allowing them to quickly mobilize state resources and National Guard troops to help during and after the storm.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a state of emergency and authorized the activation of 200 National Guardsmen to be positioned in the southeast of the state.
