Palestinians killed in protest near Gaza-Israeli border

An Israeli soldier has killed a Palestinian youth during a raid in the occupied West Bank village of Nabi Saleh.

A senior Israeli military official said Thursday that only "30 to 40" of the at least 125 Palestinians who died from Israeli fire along the Gaza border in recent weeks were killed on goal, with these being identified by the IDF as terrorists with hostile intentions.

An activist group named him as Ezzedine al-Tamimi, from Nabi Saleh, citing witnesses saying he was more than 40 metres (yards) from the soldiers when shot.

After soldiers raided the village around 10am, residents threw stones at the Israeli forces present at the scene.

A few weeks ago, the army called one of his brothers, and told him that "Ezzeddin will face the same fate of Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, who was killed by the soldiers on February 06, 2018, if he does not surrender".

An IDF spokesman confirmed on Twitter that they did indeed shoot a Palestinian man, who was confronting soldiers with 10 others, while they were conducting an arrest in the village northwest of Ramallah.

Egypt gamble on Mohamed Salah’s fitness
A four-week recovery would still leave Salah ready for the knockout stage if Egypt get there. Salah will not join his worldwide colleagues until June 9, it was announced.

The IDF confirmed that soldiers were indeed firing - but not at the terror-supporting volunteer nurse as she was tending to injured Gazans who were attempting to damage the security fence east of Khan Younis.

On Wednesday an Israeli parole committee rejected the 17-year-old's appeal for early release, said a spokesperson for a group campaigning on her behalf.

Video live-streamed by a resident of Nabi Saleh showed a pool of blood where Tamimi had been shot, as well as almost a dozen Israeli soldiers crowding around the unresponsive young man apparently attempting to place him on a stretcher as Palestinians beseeched them to take Tamimi to a hospital for treatment.

"An initial examination regarding the incident. found that a small number of bullets were fired. and that no shots were deliberately or directly aimed towards her", part of a brief statement issued by the Israeli army said.

In January, another member of the Tamimi family, 16-year-old Musaab, died in the nearby village of Deir Nidham after also being shot by Israeli forces in the neck.
