Former FIFA boss Blatter revels in visit to Putin, World Cup

Luzhniki Stadium

The Kremlin has said USA national security adviser John Bolton plans to visit Moscow, without providing details about the trip.

On Wednesday, he said that the tournament in Russia felt like "my World Cup", and on Thursday he said he would like to say "well done" to Infantino, his FIFA successor, for the World Cup so far, but added that FIFA should not be embarrassed by his presence there. Federation Internationale de Football Association said via the tournament's official Twitter account.

Blatter said it was "respectful" to be invited to the Kremlin despite being suspended from football.

Earlier on June 21, Russia's Interfax news agency quoted sources in Washington as saying that Bolton was expected to come to travel to Moscow next week to prepare for a possible meeting of Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump. "He should not be embarrassed because I am going to watch some matches", Blatter told reporters.

Blatter's ban was imposed shortly after the Swiss attorney general's office began criminal proceedings against him on suspicion of criminal mismanagement and misappropriation.

"I had the impression it was my World Cup ... that time has not stopped since I went to the last one in Brazil", he said, smiling.

Trump campaign manager calls on president to fire Jeff Sessions
Sessions blamed loopholes in U.S. immigration laws for encouraging the jump in asylum-seekers entering the country illegally. Led by New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas, 21 top state prosecutors from California to MA sent a letter to U.S.

"I was suspended, I'm still a suspended president". This was reported by press Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

The 82-year-old said he and Putin exchanged "small talk" and the president reminded him of the telephone conversation they had on 2 December, 2010, when Russian Federation won the right to host the 2018 World Cup, beating, among others, a bid from England.

"When I arrived yesterday, I saw it a little bit, it's my World Cup".

Sepp Blatter has said he will use his "influence" to help a British bid win the right to stage the 2030 World Cup, providing his help is wanted.

When asked how he had been occupying his time since the ban, Blatter said he was grappling with how to solve the problem of political intervention in world football. "But in the past, we have seen that there is political intervention for football".
