76ers considering dismissing Bryan Colangelo

The Philadelphia 76ers are considering the dismissal of general manager Bryan Colangelo as they continue their investigation into secret Twitter accounts used to criticize players and executives, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.

The Ringer's Ben Detrick reported earlier this week that Colangelo may be behind five burner accounts that leaked sensitive information.

Some league sources expect him to lose his job after a NY law firm hired by the team wraps up its investigation into allegations from a sports and pop culture website that Colangelo is connected to anonymous Twitter accounts, ones that have revealed sensitive team information and criticized players and coach Brett Brown.

The fear is that the longtime basketball executive's reputation as a result of these allegations, regardless of the investigation's outcome, would prove detrimental to the team going forward - especially when it comes to trying to attract big-name players in free agency.

The team announced a day later that they would be conducting an investigation into the reports, which is ongoing and yet to reach a verdict.

The accounts always defended Colangelo. However, The Ringer alleged that Colangelo might be linked to four other accounts - "Eric jr", "HonestAbe", "Enoughunkownsources", and "Still Balling" - that did make controversial tweets.

Colangelo, who is the team's president of basketball operations, confirmed that at least one of the accounts was his.

Federal Bureau of Investigation suggests to turn off internet routers worldwide as malware creates havoc
Most older routers lack an automatic firmware update mechanism, so they're usually full of security holes. The FBI has already received permission to seize a web domain critical to controlling the malware.

When news of the accounts came out, Colangelo and Embiid reportedly spoke.

The executive described Colangelo as somewhat emotional and as someone who pays close attention to what is being said about him.

"I don't believe the story".

The 76ers organization stated they would be investigating the matter, but there wasn't much more they could find since The Ringer had done all the work. Gotta believe him until proven otherwise.

Commissioner Adam Silver addressed the situation Thursday. "You have to separate sort of the chatter and sort of what either fans or, frankly, the media are saying from the facts".

The 76ers, who lost to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals, are gearing up for what could be the next step in the transformation of the franchise this summer.
