Three women sue Charlie Rose, CBS News for sexual harassment

With 27 more women accusing former news anchor Charlie Rose of sexual misconduct, a report Thursday calls into question CBS News' claims that his behavior was a surprise before he was sacked last November. Rose was sacked as "CBS This Morning" anchor and PBS cancelled his interview show after an earlier Post report on women who said he groped them, made lewd remarks or walked around naked around them. The executive assistant to the show's new producer, Ryan Kadro, said she told her boss about the attention Rose was paying to the young woman, and said he did not seem alarmed.

CBS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

After Rose was sacked, the lawsuit alleges that Wei filed a complaint against Kadro with CBS' director of human resources, Maria Cottone. We reached out to him today for comment on the suit but have not heard back.

For many years, Rose did his PBS interview show at the same time he worked for CBS, and the Post story also examined his behavior there.

The allegations include details of comments Rose made about their intelligence and their ethnicity. The complaint also accused the network of demoting Wei in retaliation for her complaint against Rose.

Harris, the lawsuit says, joined CBS in January of 2016, and said Rose started noticing her, taking her to lunch at expensive restaurants.

Rose repeatedly required Harris to have lunch and dinner with him, where he would place his hands on her thigh and would point at other women and call them prostitutes, according to the claim.

In one case, the lawsuit alleges, he referred to Wei as a "China Doll" and used an expletive while calling her an "idiot" for booking a flight that did not have flat folding seats. The Washington Post has reported that more than two dozen women say Rose harassed them.

Rose then contacted Wei, who was an anchor assistant on "CBS This Morning" at the time, telling her, "My relationship with you is the man I am in all my relationships", according to the complaint. The lawsuit says that Wei's health suffered as a result of her experience with CBS.

Harris and McNeal also claim the network fired them after news broke about Rose's alleged misbehavior. Ms. Wei has been on medical leave since March, the suit said.

The network has reportedly hired the law firm Proskauer Rose to help investigate all the claims against its former anchor.

"Rose had a history of sexual harassment", but did not warn Harris about him when she asked Kadro for advice on whether to work for Rose.

"CBS was fully aware of".

The Post has since reported that a total 35 women have come forward with allegations against Rose, whom one former intern reportedly said "falls toward the worst end of the spectrum" of sexual harassment.
