Deputy who failed to confront Parkland school shooter getting $8k monthly pension

Deputy who failed to confront Parkland school shooter getting $8k monthly pension

Peterson was thrown under the bus by Sheriff Scott Israel, who said at the time that the deputy should have "went in".

Scot Peterson came under fire earlier this year when he failed to confront the gunman that opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, killing 17 people with an AR-15 rifle. It just doesn't seem right, does it?

Despite Peterson's cowardly actions, his former employer has continued to support him, stating, "the allegations that Mr. Peterson was a coward and that his performance, under the circumstances, failed to meet the standards of police officers are patently untrue".

He served as a deputy for 32 years and received $101,879.03 during his last year of work between his salary, overtime, and other compensation.

These payments are based on the total number of years Peterson worked, and the average of his five highest-paid fiscal years, but according to a Department of Management Services spokeswoman, health benefits are not included in the monthly amount. Andrew Pollack and Fred Guttenberg, whose daughters Meadow Pollack and Jamie Guttenberg were among those killed, both tweeted their objections to Peterson receiving this generous of a pension.

The troubles are not over for Peterson.

Surabaya church attacks: Indonesian family of bombers 'had been to Syria'
At the third church, "two other children rode the motorbike and had the bomb across their laps", Mangera said. At least 41 people were injured in the attacks, which Indonesia's president condemned as "barbaric".

In response to the Herald/Times request for a response, Scott's office said: "Because no charges have been filed, the state is required to provide his pension under Florida law but our agency will be closely monitoring the FDLE investigation for any updates". If FDLE has found that anyone has broken any laws, they will be held fully accountable.

We know first-hand that censorship against conservative news is real.

Peterson would not be entitled to his pension if he were convicted of a crime such as embezzlement or bribery. "My daughter would still be alive if this person did his job". Seventeen students and teachers killed that awful day.

That breaks down to $511.90 per innocent life lost.

"The thing he was supposed to do - protect these children - he didn't do", Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine told the Miami Herald Tuesday.
