The Times of Israel is reporting that a 28-year-old Palestinian man was killed by Israeli gunfire, and over 122 others were injured, per Hamas' Gaza Health Ministry.

Al-Quds Brigades identified the four fighters killed as Ayid al-Hamaydeh, 23, Amjad Alcatrous, 18, Hisham Abd al-Aal, 22, and Hashem Osman, 18.

According to witnesses, Israeli forces used teargas against a field hospital set up near the border.

Israel accused Hamas, the extremist movement that runs Gaza and with whom it has fought three wars since 2008, of using the protests as a cover to carry out violence. The army said some Palestinians attempted to cross the border fence, and that firebombs and Molotov cocktails were thrown.

The militant Islamic Jihad group said four of its members were killed Saturday in a "work accident" in the southern Gaza Strip along the border with Israel.

In all, 34 Palestinians were killed in the past two weeks, 27 during protests.

Palestinians had arrived en masse at tented camps near the frontier as a protest dubbed "The Great March of Return" - evoking a longtime call for refugees to regain ancestral homes in what is now Israel - moved into its third week.

Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Friday "there are fewer riots on our border", adding that "our resolve is well-understood on the other side". Protesters stuck a Palestinian flag into the fence and affixed a rope, using it to tug at the coils.
