Releasing the Memo Would Be 'Extraordinarily Reckless'

Republicans on the committee voted last week to allow all members of the House to read the memo, which purports to detail abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act by the FBI and Justice Department in the investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

The Department of Justice is seeking to block Congressional leaders from publicly releasing a bombshell memo outlining widespread FISA abuse at the DOJ; telling the House Intelligence Committee it would be "extraordinarily reckless" to publish the documents.

The memo encompasses four-page summary of Nunes investigation into the FBI and Justice Department's use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA.

The central Republican charge that the Steele dossier was the catalyst for the entire Russian Federation inquiry also has fallen flat.

We won't know whether Democrats or Republicans are being honest about the Nunes memo "unless and until we can read the document", writes Andrew McCarthy in the National Review.

The undercover sabotage and Federal Bureau of Investigation gamesmanship during 2016's presidential campaign runs much deeper than the "Secret Society" that threw in with the Clinton campaign to fund a discredited dirty dossier used to justify the FISA warrants allowing the Obama administration to spy on the Trump campaign-right from the White House.

The Campaign for Accountability complaint also says Nunes or his staff "improperly obtained" information about the identity of Fusion's bank from the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Many conservatives were convinced the missing emails were evidence that a network of people within the Justice Department was secretly working to sabotage Trump's administration, including Sen.

Still, the Nunes memo has generated high interest across the Capitol given the seriousness of the allegations, and prominent senators have shown an interest in viewing the document.

Wozniacki gave a special mention to her father Piotr, who had coached her since she was seven years old. "It's fine. In Halep's case, she was the first player who had saved match points in multiple matches to have reached the final.

The Justice Department was for months resistant to House Intel Republicans' requests to access materials related to the Russian Federation investigation.

CNN reported Wednesday that a Senate intelligence committee request to access the memo has been denied.

Stephen Boyd, the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs, noted in a letter to Nunes that he could not understand why House intelligence committee Republicans would work to make sensitive information public without first consulting with "the relevant members of the intelligence community".

"I think the memo shows us the Mueller probe is rotten to the core, built on a rotten foundation", Gaetz said. "The footnotes and where they got it from is a bigger issue than the conclusion of the memo, because we'll come up with our own conclusions".

He said the memo and supporting documents give a "road map" to how the FISA surveillance program was abused by the Obama Justice Department and the Democratic Party during the 2016 election. The memo has been criticized as a distraction from Mueller's investigation.

"[Nunes] certainly isn't representing his Central Valley constituents or Californians, who care much more about health care, jobs and, yes, protecting Dreamers than about the latest conspiracy theory", the editorial board wrote. "Let everyone look at it", he told me, "so they can enjoy the piece of lettuce between two buns that's there.

It is profoundly misleading", Nadler said. Still, as recently as Wednesday, Trump-backing GOP members have gone on TV to hype the memo and suggest impropriety among the FBI's ranks. They didn't weave a dark tale of a sinister, hidden conspiracy coursing through the government trying to bring the president down.

Democrats contend it is part of an ongoing effort to discredit the investigation into Trump world and Russian meddling.
