Fire at Trump Tower in New York's Manhattan, no casualties

More than 125 firefighters raced to Trump Tower in New York City's Midtown Manhattan today, where smoke could be seen billowing from the rooftop of Donald Trump's lavish home.

The Fire Department reported three injuries, two of which were not life-threatening.

Firefighters arrived at the scene in minutes and extinguished the fire, which hadn't spread beyond an HVAC unit on the roof, according to The Washington Post. The president maintains a penthouse condominium in Trump Tower. A firefighter suffered a minor injury when debris fell on him.

The New York City Fire Department responded to the electrical blaze around 7 a.m., FDNY spokesman Frank Dwyer told HuffPost.

Others expressed their concern for the safety of Trump and those who were in the tower at the time of the incident. They remained on the roof of the tower even one hour after dousing the fire. Trump Tower was also the setting for the developer-turned-president's reality TV show, The Apprentice, and the headquarters of his presidential campaign.

Eric Trump, one of the president's sons and the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, referenced a problem with a cooling tower on the roof and praised the fire fighters swift response on Twitter.

A fire broke out on the top floor of the 664-foot-high building on 8 January 2018.
