GM Drivers Can Now Order a Starbucks From Their Car's Touchscreen

The technology is set to be uploaded automatically to almost 1.9 million GM vehicles model-year 2017 and later that are equipped with WiFi hotspots and compatible systems. He sails through the drive-through - he has to say his name at the speaker so the Dunkin' employees know it's the weird guy who bought his coffee with his auto, but GM doesn't show that part - grabs his "my morning coffee, hot coffee", and off he goes, excited to use those 25 seconds he saved by using GM's in-car technology to, I don't know, browse Twitter?

GM identified that the average American spends 46 minutes per day driving and looked into ways to make each trip "more productive and give our customers time back".

Marketplace, an app appearing on GM's infotainment screens beginning Tuesday, allows drivers to use their cars to order coffee, make a restaurant reservation or even buy chicken wings.

GM, however, says Marketplace is created to be a safer alternative to placing mobile orders with phones.

"This platform is financed by the merchants", Chamorro said.

Max hospital row: Two doctors who declared premature baby dead terminated
They immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors informed one of them to be alive. Sandeep Gupta, from the Delhi New Born Centre where the baby is now receiving treatment.

GM said in the announcement that it plans to add Marketplace to "millions of existing 2017 and 2018" vehicles' infotainment systems, so long as the systems are compatible with the app and the cars have wifi hotspots.

"We will be adding more vendors", Chamorro says, "and we will be continuously improving the experience".

The new feature, named GM Marketplace, is part of a push by GM and other automakers to provide new, in-vehicle tools that could become major sources of revenues as autonomous and fully driverless vehicles come to market in the near future.

Starbucks isn't the only big-name company that will be featured in GM's Marketplace. It leverages machine learning from real-time interaction data, such as location, time of day and a driver's established digital relationship with third-party merchants, to offer highly personalized experiences. Tapping the Dunkin' icon brings him to a "favorite and recent orders" screen, allowing him to select the terribly phrased "My morning coffee, hot coffee" option. Although it varies by individual merchants, GM earns money off the platform through revenue sharing, platform-placement fees and the exchange of marketing support. The service is launching with a variety of partner companies, including: GM, Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Wingstop, TGI Friday's, Shell, ExxonMobil,, Parkopedia, Applebee's, IHOP, and There's also the ability to reserve a table at certain restaurants, and a "shop" section that notifies owners of deals related to their vehicles. However, customers will not have to pay for the service or data used for these services.
